The Agromaniac - Burgess Extrasolar Array Communication Tapes

In a strange twist of serendipitous fate, we have released a new Agromaniac album about deep space radio telescopy in the same week that the famous Arecibo Observatory has been slated for decommissioning. Arecibo was once the world’s largest telescope and radar transmitter for detecting and even imaging objects in space. In 1974, a message from humanity was transmitted from Arecibo towards the star cluster Messier 13 in hopes that extraterrestrial life may someday respond.

On The Agromaniac’s new album, he “captures” that response as if listening in to shortwave communications emanating from some sort of command center. Let your imagination roam and your intuition decipher the code through the noise and static.

AI Album Art & Experimental Music on 7FORM

2020 is shaping up to be a year of hibernation for a lot of people, myself included. I’ve been using the time to learn new skills and branch out a bit. There will be new music and art of all kinds throughout the year but anything involving live dance music or performances has been put on hold until 2021.

The first new project I have is AlbumArtGAN, a project training neural networks to generate new abstract album artwork, including some J-cards (lovingly inspired by another user’s J-card project). Artwork already posted publicly can be used for free, with credit, and an entirely separate, more extensive collection of renders are available to use for $1 each (it costs me a little money to train new models).

Hayagriva, a collaborative album from Kaelin Bougneit and Devon Ford, is out now on Vulpiano Records! Hayagriva features five dark, psychedelic landscapes pulsing with drones and noise. Ford’s modular electronics act as a backbone as Bougneit textures with guitar, vocals, and granular resampling.
